WMSA Europe

The European Voice of Wireless Microphone Users & RF Professionals

Wireless is everywhere. Spectrum is shrinking. Expertise must lead.

WMSA Europe unites RF coordinators and wireless audio professionals to protect spectrum access, strengthen technical excellence, and ensure Europe’s creative industries can operate reliably in an increasingly congested spectrum environment.

Why WMSA Europe?

Wireless usage across Europe is accelerating at an unprecedented pace, while spectrum availability for Programme Making and Special Events (PMSE) continues to face pressure—particularly in the UHF range, including the 600 MHz band. The result is a growing imbalance between demand and access.

At the same time, RF coordinators and wireless professionals represent the true operational experts of spectrum use in live environments. Their field knowledge is essential for credible cooperation with national regulators and European institutions.

WMSA Europe is federating RF professionals, promoting technical excellence, and ensuring that those who understand wireless operations on the ground have a seat at the decision-making table.

Our Mission & Vision

WMSA Europe is dedicated to strengthening RF expertise, visibility, and innovation across the continent.

We work to:

  • Defend and promote access to critical spectrum resources

  • Support RF coordinators, sound engineers, and event professionals

  • Train, mentor, and build the next generation of RF specialists

  • Create a recognised European advocacy and knowledge platform

Our vision is clear: a unified European voice for PMSE and professional RF expertise, ensuring that culture, events, and broadcasting can continue to thrive through reliable wireless operations.

Who We Are

WMSA Europe brings together leading RF coordinators from across the continent, forming the foundation of a growing professional network. Initial members include experts from:

Germany, Italy, Finland, France, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, and Denmark — with expansion underway to include more countries and specialists.

This cross-border network enables coordination for touring productions, shared best practices, and consistent standards of professional wireless management throughout Europe.

Our Strategic Pillars

1. Advocacy

We coordinate national chapters to build coherent EU-level policy engagement and develop official WMSA Europe positions and white papers. The association objective is to contribute to CEPT, RSPG, and European Commission consultations while building alliances with cultural institutions, broadcasters, and professional unions.

Goal: Ensure spectrum policy decisions reflect operational reality.

2. Engagement

WMSA Europe connects professionals through workshops, webinars, national events, and the development of a European RF PMSE Conference. Digital platforms support real-time collaboration and cross-border coordination, while outreach expands toward festivals, venues, and touring productions.

Goal: Build a visible, active, and connected RF community.

3. Innovation & Knowledge

The association develops a technical knowledge hub and promotes best practices in spectrum use and interference management. It supports coordination across borders and encourages innovation in emerging technologies such as WMAS, spectrum sharing approaches and others.

Goal: Keep European RF expertise at the global forefront.

Our Long-Term Vision

WMSA Europe aims to become:

  • The authoritative and unified European voice for PMSE

  • A key defender of sustainable and guaranteed spectrum access

  • A reference organisation for RF expertise

  • A contributor to Europe’s creative and cultural strength through reliable wireless infrastructure

Reliable spectrum access is not only a technical requirement — it is a foundation of Europe’s cultural and creative ecosystem.
